8.7/10. A creative horror movie of the 80's that mustn't be overlooked. I enjoyed its premise as these little scary creatures, the Gremlins, wreaked havoc on this small town which looked like a blend of Mayberry and Bedford Falls. If anything, I found it the kind of horror movie that could do humor while not getting too over the top. Its sequel, Gremlins 2:The New Batch, went slightly the opposite way, nothing wrong with that, because it worked. Here though, the small town isolation with being invaded by these little monsters does well and plays with the audience's minds superbly.

Gremlins mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: When a gremlin attacks the Mum from a Christmas tree, and the tree falls on top of her, you can clearly see a member of the crew with eyeglasses, wearing a red shirt, standing behind the tree pushing it forward on top of her. (00:54:30)

Randall Peltzer: Well, that's the story. So if your air conditioner goes on the fritz. Or your washing machine blows up. Or your video recorder conks out; before you call the repairman, turn on all the lights, check all the closets and cupboards, look under all the beds. Cause you never can tell. There just might be a gremlin in your house.

Trivia: When Billy's mom takes the picture of Gizmo at the beginning, Gizmo becomes frightened and runs over to Mr. Peltzer. When the scene is slowed, you can see the puppeteer's hand underneath while operating the Gizmo doll. Not a mistake as needs slo-mo, but worth a look. (00:19:10)

Question: I have the original VHS version and I've noticed that some cuss words have dubbed over on the DVD. Yet The original VHS is still rated PG any reason why, other than the fact to make it more of a family film.

Answer: The original film was released before the PG-13 rating existed (it was one of the films responsible for its creation). Producers decided to remove some of the language and violence for the DVD release to avoid complaints about the PG rating.
