Factual error: Liquid nitrogen comes in a stainless steel Dewer Flask, which is a larger diameter than shown in the film. The gas cylinders shown, on two occasions, are the type used for high pressure gas, not liquid nitrogen. (00:17:10)

Visible crew/equipment: When we see the outside closed circuit television camera for the second time (the first is when the agents come on to the island) the cameraman filming the scene is reflected in the CCTV camera's lens. (00:26:05)

Factual error: When J.D. gets killed, Vince's leg shakes. Vince is suppose to be paralyzed. Even if he was extremely scared, his leg shouldn't have been able to move no matter how much he tried. It happens again later in the movie. (00:30:55)

Suggested correction: During the film, its never discussed whether or not Vince is paralyzed. He may just have a damaged spine. The scene where his foot is shaking, the entire camera frame is pointing directly at his feet. Seems unlikely that would have been included, if he was playing a paraplegic.

Factual error: J.D's legs wouldn't be frozen and shattered in seconds by liquid Nitrogen spray. In fact, science has shown that even fully submerging a leg in LN2 for 30-40 seconds will only freeze the surface. Which will then thaw after several minutes. (00:31:38)

Other mistake: When the remaining agents are sitting at tables drinking coffee, Vince glances up at the clock which says 12h00. He then says "It's two o'clock and we're still here. We're still here and it's two o'clock." (00:37:30)

Continuity mistake: After Nicole smokes her last cigarette (literally), and starts to decompose, the blood stain on her chest changes in size. At first, it is pretty big and on only one side. In the next shot that she is in, the blood stain separated causing a small stain on one side of her chest, and a slightly larger stain on the other. (01:08:40)

Continuity mistake: When Vince leaves the freezer and is making his way onto the elevator, he is carrying a Baretta model pistol. When he shoots as the elevator doors are closing the camera cuts to a Glock model pistol, then back to the Baretta again. When the elevator reaches the upper level, the woman picks up the remains of the backfired pistol and it is back to the Glock. (01:21:15 - 01:24:30)

Visible crew/equipment: In the fight scene on the staircase the crew that is filming is visible right next to the fighters. They are even seen moving. (01:23:45)

Revealing mistake: After Jonny Lee Miller gets shot in the head, he slowly falls into the water, facing Sara and Gabe. In the next shot, he has turned towards the water. If you watch closely, you can also see him turn his head so he doesn't hit the face on the water surface. (01:34:15)

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where the team are searching for the killer, an overhead shot of the town shows some sort of a rain-making machine in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Factual error: At the end when the two people are shooting at each other underwater, they both fire about four shots at each other. This isn't possible because a gun needs pressure to reload, or else it would jam after one or two shots. An episode of Mythbusters confirms this.

Suggested correction: This is just false. Many modern guns can be fired underwater. And not just once, but until the clip is empty. Including Glocks, and Berettas. The latter, was what both characters were firing at each other with in the film. There's many videos on Youtube of people shooting guns underwater. That scene is 100% accurate.

Revealing mistake: When Gabe fights with Lucas, if you look closely the entire time "Lucas" is actually a stunt double.

Lucas: I came out here to feed the ducks and I see you're feeding the ducks. Maybe we could feed the ducks together?

Question: What was the deal with all the agents' jackets having letters written on the back in luminous paint? Why did the killer do this?

swordfish

Chosen answer: Vince explains this. The letters spell out CROATOAN. There was an English colony on Roanoake Island, of which the entire population mysteriously disappeared, giving no trace of what had happened, barring the letters CROATOAN carved on to a tree.
